Since October 2022 Softline has been operating under the brand name Noventiq.
When did you first realize you had an interest in IT?
I started to learn about information technology in high school and, right away, I was certain that I wanted to work in the industry. My first experience encouraged me to apply to Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana and I ultimately received a degree in telecommunications.
Could you introduce us to your job at Softline?
My first and most important task is to demonstrate the most suitable solutions to our clients in every situation. As such, I need to keep up with technological updates all the time, especially around Microsoft 365. Besides the theoretical knowledge, I need to be able to identify the clients’ precise needs in practice, so that I can effectively support them through consultation and project delivery.
Customers require our support in a variety of situations. They contact us when they face an unusual issue in their existing environment, while in certain cases they’d like to know more about a new solution or to understand best practices and industry experiences regarding a particular technology. That means we must be able to look at a situation from multiple aspects and understand the context as well. Thanks to the great internal collaboration with our regional and international colleagues, we at Softline can take a comprehensive approach and propose a solution that can actively support the organization in the long term.
What have you experienced so far at Softline?
Earlier I worked as an internal IT engineer, so changing my mindset and prioritizing my tasks as an external consultant was challenging for me. I learnt that, when a challenge arises, you can take the time and think the solution through, as the fastest answer is not always the best one.
In terms of the industry, I would say that I see a clear progress in cybersecurity awareness. Since I joined Softline, I’ve had numerous discussions with clients regarding how they can strengthen their cybersecurity to avoid data breaches. At first, companies were more interested in exact solutions that they could implement but a majority of them have recently started to think about cybersecurity in a strategic way.
How do you see Softline’s local and regional cooperation?
Working with experts outside your team has a major impact on your professional development. It can actively help with your personal growth as an industry expert but, at the same time, clients can also benefit from a team that combines various backgrounds and specializations. Softline is a great environment for any professional who want to grow and gain valuable experience, while clients can also leverage Softline’s unique expertise.
What should organizations expect from cloud services?
On the one hand, migrating to cloud services eliminates the need for upfront investments in physical infrastructure, which has made them quite popular. On the other hand, cloud services can also take the burden off the company’s IT department in terms of infrastructure management, but I cannot stress enough the importance of adoption. Furthermore, cloud services are suitable for companies of all sizes. As organizations can increase or decrease their IT resources without any disruption, the technology could benefit small and medium-sized companies as well. However, security should always remain a major area to focus on regardless of the technology. As I see it, a lean IT infrastructure without unnecessary complications could effectively support the organization in the long term.
How do you enjoy spending your free time?
To be honest, I often spend some of my free time reading professional blogs and industry news, as I like to be well-informed. However, I do feel the need to enjoy active relaxation. I like swimming, running and hiking so, when I have the chance, I try to enjoy the beautiful sights and trails in Slovenia and abroad.
